In a November 9, 2023, Consent Order, Jerry Lay admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct relating to the geotechnical engineering services he provided. As of November 17, 2023, Mr. Lay’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is suspended for a period of 2 months.

In a November 9, 2023, Consent Order, Ian Colquhoun admitted that he engaged in conduct unbecoming a registrant. Mr. Colquhoun’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is cancelled.

In a November 9, 2023, Consent Order, Barry Clarke P.Eng., admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct in relation to the engineering services and field reviews he completed for fire suppression systems in the Okanagan. Mr. Clarke’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is suspended for a period of 2 months.

In an October 20, 2023, Consent Order, Vijay Kumar Bains, P.Eng., admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct by authenticating deficient design drawings prepared for a tenant improvement building permit. He was suspended for 2 months.

Over 300 registrants and guests gathered in-person and online for Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Annual General Meeting on October 28. Three motions related to the organization’s finances and creation of an independent advocacy body were brought forward for the Board’s consideration.

It’s almost time to renew your registration and pay annual fees for 2024. Individual registrants can renew their registration beginning November 15, 2023, and must renew by December 31, 2023.

At their inaugural meeting on October 28, 2023, the Engineers and Geoscientists BC 2023/2024 Board selected the new Chair and Vice Chair from the elected Board members. Michelle Mahovlich, MEng., P.Eng., P.Geo., FCSSE, who formerly served as Vice Chair, was elected as Chair. Mark Porter, P.Eng., Struct.Eng., was elected as Vice Chair.
