Russ Kinghorn, P.Eng.
Russ Kinghorn, P. Eng. is a professional engineer with over 25 years of experience in business consulting, mechanical engineering and project management.  He currently provides integrated business planning and decision support models for the coal and forest industries in Canada, the USA and Australia.

Mr. Kinghorn was formally inducted as President of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC) on Saturday Oct. 17, 2009. Mr. Kinghorn’s previous positions with APEGBC include: Vice President of APEGBC’s Council in 2008/2009, Councillor for four years, chair of the Professional Practice Committee, member of the Team of Engineering and Geoscience Task Force, advisor to the Professional Renewal Task Force, chair of the Branch Representatives and chair of APEGBC’s East Kootenay Branch.
Mr. Kinghorn is a member of the Cranbrook Rotary Club having served on its executive for four years.  He serves on the Cranbrook Arches Committee, a group dedicated to revitalizing Cranbrook’s downtown core.  He has also been a volunteer with the Tetra Society in East Kootenay.

Mr. Kinghorn received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1981 and his Masters of Business Administration, Management Science & Information Systems from Simon Fraser University in 1991.

Frank Denton, P.Eng.
Frank Denton received his degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Liverpool.  Until his recent retirement, he was the senior of three vice-presidents for McElhanney Consulting, a 350 person, civil engineering and survey/mapping company. He remains active with McElhanney Consulting, on a part-time basis, as a director.  In addition to his engineering background, Mr. Denton brings knowledge and skills in accounting, commercial and contract law, project management and the real estate development business.

Margaret Li, P.Eng., PhD
Margaret Li is a professional engineer with over 30 years of experience in electrical engineering. Prior to her retirement, Dr. Li worked for 26 years with TELUS/BC TEL. Dr. Li's previous positions with APEGBC include: President of APEGBC’s Council for the 2008/2009 term, Vice President of APEGBC's Council for the 2007/2008 term, Councillor for five years, and member of the Governance Committee, Registration Committee, and the Division for the Advancement of Women in Engineering and Geoscience.

Dr. Li received her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hong Kong in 1973 and her Masters of Electronic Engineering from the Philips International Institute, Netherlands in 1975. She went on to earn her PhD from the University of Hong Kong in 1981 and her MBA from the University of British Columbia in 1993.

Emily Cheung, P.Eng.
Ms. Cheung holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering and a Masters of Applied Science in Environmental Fluid Mechanics from the University of British Columbia.

The Engineering Manager for DWB Forestry Services Ltd, she has over 20 years of experience. Ms. Cheung’s involvement with APEGBC has included positions on the Professional Renewal Task Force, Communications Committee and Standing Awards Committee. She is currently serving her third term as a member of Council.

John Clague, P.Geo., PhD
Dr. Clague holds a PhD in Geology from the University of British Columbia.  He is the Shrum Professor of Science at Simon Fraser University and acts as a consultant for private sector firms and government agencies.  Dr. Clague brings over 35 years of background in earth science, working with government and academia and maintaining close ties to private sector engineers and geoscientists.  He is a director of the SFU Centre for Natural Hazard Research and author of two popular geological books and a textbook on natural hazards. Dr. Clague was the recipient of APEGBC’s C.J. Westerman Memorial Award in 1999.   This is his first year on Council.

Joan Hansen, O.D. (Government Order in Council Appointee)
Dr. Hansen is an Optometrist and has run a private practice since 1983.  She is a member of the Tsawwassen Rotary Club and a former member of the Delta Chamber of Commerce.  Presently, she is also a member and past president of both the BC Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.  Dr. Hansen has made numerous appearances on local and network tv news shows and is a commentator for the Sun Festival Parade for Delta Cable TV.

Jeff Holm, P.Eng.
Mr. Holm is a Senior Engineer with MMM Group, a Canadian and International Company that provides multidisciplinary engineering solutions for a diverse range of assignments.  Serving his third term on APEGBC Council, Mr. Holm has acted as Chair for numerous Association initiatives, including the Governance Committee, Registration Committee, and Limited Licence Registration Task Force.  He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia.

Michael Isaacson, P.Eng., PhD
Dr. Isaacson is Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia.  He received his degrees in engineering from the University of Cambridge.  He has been a faculty member at UBC for over 30 years, and has served as Head of Civil Engineering and as Dean of Applied Science.   His area of research relates to coastal and ocean engineering and he is the author or co-author of two texts and over 250 technical papers.  Throughout his career, Dr. Isaacson has remained active as an engineering consultant.  Dr. Isaacson is the recipient of several awards, including the R.A. McLachlan Memorial Award from APEGBC. This is his first year on Council.

Harlan Kelly, P.Eng.
A graduate of University of British Columbia with both a BASc in Civil Engineering and a Masters of Engineering in Environmental Engineering, Mr. Kelly brings years of senior level practice in consulting engineering.  He was President & CEO of Dayton & Knight Ltd. from 2001-2006 and is currently their Vice President, Technologies.  Mr. Kelly brings expertise from a broad range of engineering and business management skills. In addition, Mr. Kelly is an Adjunct Professor, Environmental Engineering at UBC.

Joe Martignago (Government Order in Council Appointee)
Mr. Martignago, MBA, is President of Martignago and Associates, a consulting firm specializing in project management, human resources and organizational development. He is a member of the advisory board of the University of Victoria's School of Public Administration. Mr. Martignago's career has included executive positions in the private and public sectors, including CAO of the Cities of Kamloops and Victoria.  He has served as a director of numerous charitable, public and private organizations and companies..

Claudia Ng, P.Eng.
Ms. Ng is the founder, CEO and President of 818 Channel Media Inc., an emerging leader in managing digital display networks and promoting channel advertising.  Prior to 818 Channel, she founded FatPort Corporation, and has held senior positions at Infowave Software, ActiveState, Blast Radius, and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. In addition to her corporate initiatives, Ms. Ng has worked to improve the business and social community.  Being a technically strong and business-minded woman, she leverages her strengths to the benefit of the community through her mentorship activities and voluntary involvement in organizations such as S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and various technology and business groups.

Bob Patrick, P.Eng.
Mr. Patrick is a geotechnical engineer with over 28 years of consulting experience throughout western Canada and internationally. He is a Principal Engineer with EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd.
Mr. Patrick received his Bachelor of Engineering Science from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters of Science from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.  His involvement with APEGBC has included positions on the Task Force for Seismic Slope Stability and the Joint Practice Board, as well as serving on the Division of Engineers and Geoscientists in the Resource Sector Newsletter Editorial Board.

Marilyn Pattison, PhD (Government Order in Council Appointee)
Dr. Pattison holds PhD in Higher Education from the University of Toronto and has worked at the Council of Ontario Universities and the Ministry of Colleges and Universities in policy development.  In addition to serving as Vice Chair of the Camosun College Foundation Board, she is the immediate Past President of the Greater Victoria YMCA/YWCA.

Ross Rettie, P.Eng.
With 18 years of experience as a senior APEGBC staff director, plus 19 years of professional practice experience in a variety of roles, Mr. Rettie brings a unique perspective on operations, background knowledge and team-building skills to Council.  He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BSc (Civil Engineering) and is currently a Consultant with Paragon Projects Lt. and with Co2OneWorld.  Mr. Rettie is a Fellow of Engineers Canada and is the Chair of the Engineers Canada Environment and Sustainability Committee.

Kevin Turner, P.Eng.
Mr. Turner is a professional engineer employed by Westrek Geotechnical Services Ltd., a geotechnical consulting company focused on the forestry, mineral exploration and energy sectors. Prior to joining Westrek in 2008, Mr. Turner was employed for 12 years as a regional geotechnical engineer with the BC Ministry of Forests & Range and 6 years with AMEC Earth & Environmental in Kamloops. Mr. Turner chairs the Geoscience Committee and has served on the Registration Committee, the ABCFP / APEGBC Joint Practices Board, and on the executive of APEGBC's Division of Engineers and Geoscientists in the Resource Sector.

Michael Waberski BCLS (Government Order in Council Appointee)
Mr. Waberski is a retired Professional British Columbia Land Surveyor spending the majority of his career at Waberski Darrow Survey Group Ltd. of Fort St. John. He has 29 years experience as a professional land surveyor. Mr. Waberski has successfully participated in a broad spectrum of Oil and Gas Industry projects and numerous cadastral surveying projects.  He has been active in various regulatory review initiatives and was a member of the Oil and Gas Commission Practice Advisory Group and a Chair of the Oil and Gas Commission Advisory Commission.

Mike Wrinch, P.Eng., PhD
Mr. Wrinch is the President and owner of Hedgehog Technologies Inc., which conducts business in developing emerging energy connection, transmission, and metering technologies for marine, utility and industrial industries. He has served as a director or chair of numerous organizations and companies. Most recently, Mr. Wrinch was the technical chair for the 2007 IEEE international conference on oceanic engineering. He graduated from the Memorial University of Newfoundland with a masters degree in Electrical Engineering and received his PhD from the University of British Columbia.
