Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia, the regulatory and licensing body for the professions of engineering and geoscience in BC, has announced disciplinary findings against two individuals connected with the 2014 breach of the tailings storage facility at the Mount Polley Mine.

A Discipline Hearing Panel found that Mr. Rice failed to properly fulfill the role of review engineer and demonstrated unprofessional conduct during his work at the Mount Polley Mine. In addition to other penalties, Mr. Rice agreed to a fine of $25,000 and to pay legal costs of $107,500 to Engineers and Geoscientists BC.

In relation to her engineering work at the Mount Polley Tailings Storage Facility, a Discipline Hearing Panel found that Ms. Fidel demonstrated unprofessional conduct in relation to some of the allegations made against her, while other allegations were dismissed. A penalty hearing has not yet been scheduled.
