Provincial Election May Change Timeline for Professional Governance Act

On September 21, BC Premier John Horgan announced a snap election for October 24, 2020. The election call triggers a dissolution of the Legislative Assembly and is expected to delay the planned implementation of the Professional Governance Act (PGA)—new governing legislation for Engineers and Geoscientists BC and its registrants that was scheduled to come into force in November 2020 through an Order in Council passed by Cabinet.

While we anticipate the implementation timeline will change, we do not expect to see any changes to the content or structure of the legislation itself. We encourage all registrants to review our PGA webpage to ensure they are aware of and understand the new obligations and requirements the PGA will introduce for them.

We will continue to keep registrants updated as additional details pertaining to the implementation timeline are confirmed.
