New Regulatory Learning Module on Climate Change Available

As part of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Continuing Education (CE) Program, practising registrants are required to complete a new Regulatory Learning Module each year to meet their CE requirements. The Regulatory Learning Module covers essential regulatory topics relevant to all Engineers and Geoscientists BC registrants.

The mandatory Regulatory Learning Module for 2023-2024 focuses on climate change and sustainability in two parts:

  1. Climate change considerations in professional practice; and
  2. The Professional Practice Guidelines on Sustainability Version 2.0 released in early 2023.

The content covers how climate change presents risks to sustainability and the responsibilities and requirements for registrants. By the end of this module, registrants will have learned:

  • How climate change and sustainability relate to the Code of Ethics;
  • Prioritized activities in Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Climate Change Action Plan;
  • The role of Engineers and Geoscientists BC in supporting the Climate Change Action Plan;
  • Nine foundations that are important to addressing climate change and sustainability;
  • How to follow the requirements of the Professional Practice Guidelines to integrate sustainability into their practice.

This course was developed by Engineers and Geoscientists BC and an external consultant specializing in the development of online educational content for professionals, with contributions by and close collaboration with a team of subject-matter experts. This course was also reviewed by various focus groups.

The module is free and will take approximately 1 hour to complete. After completing the module, the session will be recorded in the registrant's online reporting system for 1 CE Hour of Regulatory Learning, and it will be noted that the registrant has met the annual Regulatory Learning requirement. This requirement is due by June 30, 2024.

To complete the module, visit the Knowledge Centre course page. For more information about the CE Program, visit the Program Overview page or email [email protected].
